SNOHOMISH — Broadway Avenue between 180th and 188th streets will be closed for a week as crews working for Snohomish County install a storm system and two vaults.
The half-mile stretch of Broadway Avenue, east of Highway 9, is slated to be fully closed from 6 a.m. Friday to 8 p.m. April 9. Single lane closures already in place will continue until then.
The work is part of a larger county project that started last summer and is aimed at improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project adds a new 8-foot-wide shoulder on the west side of the road, between Yew Way and 164th Street SE. About 5,300 cars drive that stretch of Broadway daily.
Detention ponds and stormwater vaults are included in the work to improve drainage.
Construction is expected to wrap up this summer.
