EDMONDS — A fire Monday afternoon heavily damaged a house in the Picnic Point area north of Edmonds.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames around 1:15 p.m. in the 13700 block of 65th Place W.
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from windows on the second and third floors, said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
The fire was extinguished about 15 minutes later. No one was home at the time.
Damage was estimated at $250,000. The cause remains under investigation. The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen, Hynes said.
