Brandon Tuttle of Cascade and Riand Poblete of Mariner earned first-team all-state honors in their respective divisions over the weekend at the 45th annual State High School Varsity Bowling Championships in Tukwila.

The event was put on by the Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association.

Tuttle averaged 212 to lead the Bruins to an eighth-place finish in the Division I Boys team competition. Wilson won the state title with 51 points. Fife finished second, followed by Moses Lake, Todd Beamer, R.A. Long, Omak, Kelso, Cascade, Edmonds-Woodway and Marysville-Pilchuck.

Matt Stjern (200 average) and Eddy Smith (197), both of Marysville-Pilchuck, earned second-team all-state honors.

In the Division II boys competition, Poblete led Mariner to a fifth-place finish. He averaged 225 per game to earn Division II all-state honors. Eddie Beaman (187) of Mountlake Terrace, and Jacob Miller (187) and Tyler Johnson (185) of Oak Harbor were second-team all-state picks.

Shadle Park won the Division II state title with 47 points. Oak Harbor placed fourth and Mountlake Terrace fifth.

In Division III boys, Marysville-Pilchuck came in seventh and Mountlake Terrace ninth. Woodinville won the division with 53 points.

In the girls team event, Edmonds-Woodway placed fifth. Thomas Jefferson finished first with 52.5 points.

The competition was held Saturday and Sunday at Acme Bowl in Tukwila.

Moore honored again

Adam Moore, a 6-foot-7 senior forward on the Warner Pacific men’s basketball team, has earned Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors for the third time this season. Moore, from Everett, was honored for the week of Feb. 9-15.

Moore averaged 27 points and nine rebounds in victories over Corban and Concordia. He shot 51 percent from the field (21-for-41) and 92 percent from the foul line (11-for-12). For the season, Moore averages 20.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Warner Pacific (20-7) plays Northwest Christian on Wednesday in the first round of the conference tournament.

Wight a preseason pick

UNLV senior Jesse Wight has been selected to the All-Mountain West Conference preseason baseball team.

A former Kamiak High School standout, Wight hit .328 last season with one home run and 24 RBI. This year he’s making the switch from the outfield to first base.
