Regarding the Tuesday letter, “Is the job too much for Somers?”: The writer states Dave Somers is whining about how hard the county executive job is only after one month. First, nowhere in the article does it give a hint Dave is whining. Nada. One needs to read “the whole article.” If you do, you’ll see right out front where it states Dave Somers stays true to his values, as he navigates the challenges of county leadership. That’s whining? Hardly.
Quite possibly some of the challenges are leftovers by his predecessor Lovick. After all, obviously the voters weren’t happy with the way Lovick was leading, or lack thereof. The previous atmosphere within the ranks with Lovick at the helm was not good. Dare I say he acquired an inflated ego once he became executive(?) Again, not good.
I for one am very glad Dave Somers is in the executive office. Evidently so are others under his leadership, as in Sunday’s article, Dave says (in part) “Everybody is so cheery this morning.”
I’m also glad The Daily Herald gave us an informative article of exactly what the challenges and what the job entails of being county executive.
Dave Somers is meeting the challenges of Snohomish County executive head on. And, he has “cheery people” working with him. A happy workplace produces positive results.
