It’s the Mariners’ home opener. Here’s the lineups:
SEATTLE (2-1)
Norichika Aoki, LF
Ketel Marte, SS
Robinson Cano, 2B
Nelson Cruz, RF
Kyle Seager, 3B
Chris Iannetta, C
Franklin Gutierrez, DH
Dae-Ho Lee, 1B
Leonys Martin, CF
Starting pitcher: Right-hander Taijuan Walker (11-8, 4.56 ERA last season).
Notes: The Mariners look to continue their offensive tear at home — Seattle scored 21 runs in its season-opening three-game series at Texas, with Cano leading the way with four homers. With the A’s starting a left-hander, Gutierrez and Lee get starts. Walker is looking to build off a promising first full season in the majors.
OAKLAND (1-3)
Billy Burns, CF
Jed Lowrie, 2B
Josh Reddick, DH
Danny Valencia, 3B
Stephen Vogt, C
Khris Davis, LF
Chris Coghlan, RF
Yonder Alonso, 1B
Marcus Semien, SS
Starting pitcher: Left-hander Eric Surkamp (0-0, 10.80 ERA last season).
Notes: The A’s are coming off a disappointing opening series as they managed just one victory in their four-game set at home against the Chicago White Sox. Oakland batted just .212, hit just one homer and scored just 10 runs in those four contests. The A’s load up against the right-handed Walker, with four left-handers ad two switch hitters in the lineup.
