Our latest poll at HeraldNet.com was inspired by actor Chris Pratt’s fundraiser for the Boys &Girls Club in his hometown, Lake Stevens. He’s raffling off a day with him on the set of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” Can anything beat that?
No, really nothing can. For our poll, we asked which famous person from Snohomish County you would most want to spend a day with, and Pratt is indeed the top prize, taking 32 percent of the vote. With his regular-guy image and No. 2 ranking on People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive list, he offers something for everyone.
But Pratt isn’t quite for everyone. Edmonds travel guru Rick Steves was a strong second with 22 percent of the vote, surely because he could tell fascinating stories from his adventures in Europe. You’d just have to put up with occasional interruptions asking you to support your local PBS station.
Anna Faris, star of TV’s “Mom,” took third with 17 percent. Faris, who hails from Edmonds, will probably be just fine. Since she’s Pratt’s wife, every day for her is like winning the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club raffle.
Snohomish native Chrissy Teigen was fourth with 15 percent. You can see why Teigen, a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and author of a popular cookbook, would appeal to a certain demographic. Guys might be disappointed when her husband, singer John Legend, makes them feel inadequate at, well, everything.
Bob Barker, the 92-year-old TV legend from Darrington, was next with 12 percent. He could regale you with stories from “The Price Is Right,” or he could make you spend all day spaying cats. It could really go either way.
And bringing up the rear was another Edmonds native, 74-time “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings. He seems nice enough, but sadly he mustered just 3 percent in our poll. Nobody likes a know-it-all, but he probably knew that already.
