Our 50th consecutive year of Operation School Bell® is near completion. As the main philanthropic program for Assistance League of Everett, we are grateful for the support of Snohomish County residents who help our efforts. You donate and shop in our thrift store, attend our estate sales, and support fundraising activities such as the Home Tour, Christmas Bazaar and Spring Event. Also, a huge part of our success is from businesses, foundations and service groups who generously give donations, school employees who identify and transport children in need to us and our wonderful volunteers who contribute their time, energy and love to this endeavor.
During the 2015-16 school year we provided new school wardrobes to over 4,500 children in need who attend school in Snohomish County. Of this population, 988 were high school students, who through an arrangement with Fred Meyer stores, had the opportunity to do their own shopping. The remainder, primarily preschool, elementary and middle school students, are brought to our School Bell facility where an Assistant League volunteer helps with the selection of clothing.
Each child who comes to School Bell is provided with new clothing including: Three shirts and pants, a sweat shirt and winter jacket, box sets of underwear and socks, a hat, scarf, gloves, and a grooming kit. Older girls are provided undergarments. Also, most children receive a voucher to purchase a pair of shoes at Payless shoe stores, if not supplied by the school.
Our mission is to promote the well-being and self-esteem of children, teens and adults in Snohomish County. With your support we are accomplishing this. Thank you so much. We will all benefit from taking care of our youth.
