Regarding the article, “Lynnwood to reconsider lucrative traffic-enforcement cameras”: Good for Lynnwood — they are making tons of bucks from stupid people who don’t understood that they are required by law to stop at a red light.
By today’s standards, the $124 fine is “pocket change” — no big deal. My suggestion would be for the city of Lynnwood to retain the cameras, the cost for which has been paid, and increase the fines — first offense $200, second offense $400 and third offense $1,000. Also, all of the violations should go on the driver’s record.
These recommendations might just make a driver pause and think twice rather than barreling through the intersection and possibly killing an innocent person.
