Sounders vs. Union lineup notes, plus full-capacity dates

SOUNDERS (1-3-1, 4 points, 9th in Western Conference)

Squad (4-3-3): Frei; Mears, Evans (c), Marshall, Remick; Alonso, Roldan, Dempsey; Anderson, Morris, Ivanschitz.

Bench: Miller, Scott, J. Jones, Farfan, Kovar, Valdez, Gomez.

Notes: The big change for Seattle tonight is that forward Oalex Anderson, who’s provided a spark off the bench in recent games, gets a chance from the outset as he makes his first start of the season. Anderson replaces Aaron Kovar, who started the past two games. Jordan Morris retains his spot at center forward with Nelson Valdez, who missed last week’s 1-1 draw at Houston because of a hamstring injury, recovered enough to make the bench. Clint Dempsey continues to play in midfield rather than up front. Dylan Remick is preferred to Joevin Jones at left back. Both defender Brad Evans and midfielder Osvaldo Alonso will be honored before the game for appearing in their 200th games with the Sounders.

The Sounders also announced Saturday that they will hold five full-capacity matches at CenturyLink Field this season, in which the upper deck will be made fully available to fans. The lifting of the tarps increases CenturyLink’s capacity from 39,419 to 67,000. Those dates:

June 25 vs. New York City FC

July 31 vs. L.A. Galaxy

Aug. 31 vs. Portland Timbers

Sept. 17 vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Oct. 23 vs. Real Salt Lake

UNION (3-2-0, 9 points, t-1st in Eastern Conference)

Squad (4-2-3-1): Blake; Rosenberry, Yaro, Marquez, Fabinho; Creavalle, Noguiera; Le Toux (c), Alberg, Pontius; Sapong.

Bench: Jones, Barnetta, Anderson, Herbers, Fernandes, Gaddis, Carroll.

Notes: Playmaker Ilsinho, who was considered questionable because of a hamstring injury, is unable to go for Philadelphia. Therefore, it means a start in the attacking-midfield trio for former Sounder Sebastien Le Toux, who wears the captain’s armband with regular captain Brian Carroll held in reserve. Central defender Ken Tribbett, who was questionable due to an ankle injury, also misses out, with Joshua Yaro making his MLS debut in his place. Midfielder Maurice Edu, a designated player and former U.S. international, is a long-term absentee because of a stress fracture in his left tibia. C.J. Sapong (three goals) and Chris Pontius (two goals, one assist) have been the danger men for the Union, who are hoping to have their first winning season since entering the league in 2010.
