CLEARVIEW — A man and his three dogs were rescued Friday after his car went over an embankment near Maltby.
Fire district 3 and 7 firefighters were called to 212th Street SE and Echo Lake Road around 1:45 p.m.
While crews were on their way, an off-duty Monroe firefighter stopped to help. He found the driver trapped in his car but was not injured.
The vehicle was down an embankment with trees on top of it. Crews had to cut the trees to get to the driver. Once freed, the driver was able to walk away to receive a medical evaluation.
The driver told the crew that his three Pomeranians were in the vehicle. Firefighters rescued the dogs.
The diver had lost control of his vehicle when his tires caught the edge of the pavement, sending him down the embankment into the trees. He was not injured, and was reunited with his wife and dogs.
