EVERETT — A man died Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle in the intersection of Evergreen Way and Pecks Drive in Everett.
Detectives with the Everett Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash, which occurred around 8:45 p.m.
The man, whose age and hometown were not immediately available, died at the scene.
Detectives believe the man stepped from the sidewalk in the intersection when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
The driver initially stayed at the scene but left, Snell said.
Witnesses provided information about the vehicle and the driver called 911 from a nearby business. Detectives located the driver — a Lynnwood man, 43, — and interviewed him.
His vehicle was impounded as evidence.
No arrests were made because detectives need to conclude their investigation, Snell said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the crash victim’s identity as well as the cause and manner of his death.
Traffic on Evergreen Way was reduced to one lane in each direction for about 90 minutes on Wednesday evening.
