We were among those who received postcards in the mail last week, letting us know that a mosque is to be built on Harbour Pointe Boulevard. Although we doubt that the author intended this, we were pleased to learn that our mayor welcomed the Islamic Association of Seattle to construct the mosque. We, too, would like to extend our hands to welcome the construction of a place of worship for this diverse religious population. We are gratified to know that the people — who already live here, are employed here and give back to our community here — will be able to worship here as well. We look forward to learning more about our Muslim neighbors with the addition of this cultural center and place of worship.
