EDMONDS — Tyler Christensen, 16, was still missing Thursday evening, two days after he was last seen walking to a church event near Picnic Point.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has deployed search-and-rescue crews to look for the teen, who is believed to be endangered, spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The search is focused on routes the boy may have taken between his home and the church along 116th Street SW. The area is full of greenbelts and steep ravines where people can get lost.
Tyler Christensen is a hard-working boy who often does odd jobs for his neighbors, said his father, Andy Christensen. He loves hiking and exploring and more recently has taken up riding motorcycles.
“There’s been just a huge outpouring for him since this news has gotten out,” Andy Christensen said in an interview. “It’s just incredible, the response, of just how many people have been impacted by Tyler.”
Tyler Christensen is a middle child with four sisters. He is home-schooled and also is known to build furniture and other creations of metal and wood. He has no history of mental-health issues or running away.
He was last seen in the area of Beverly Park Road and never arrived at the church for his youth group meeting.
Christensen is described as 5’11” and 145 pounds with blue eyes and light brown hair in a buzz cut. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts. Anyone with information is asked to call 911. Anonymous tips can be left at 425-388-3845.
“We don’t know if he took the road or a sidewalk or if he cut through the brush or took a path,” Ireton said. “… We have a group of detectives who are really working that case.”
