Last Sunday I attended the Democratic caucus meeting at Cascade High School hoping to participate in the democratic process. Silly me! What I saw right before my eyes was the death of the caucus system. It was not a dignified death, but a long slow tortuous death in a hot gymnasium witnessed by hundreds. The speeches were long and tedious (even the invocation was so long I nodded off) the microphone did not work, the signage was so small I could not read it and I was only 30 feet away. I told myself the process would get better when those in charge got the hang of it. Then the realization struck me that this was not going to happen. Even those in charge did not seem to know what to do. An antiquated system was in charge and we were all captives. I took my leave of the deceased and I left.
