In Tuesday’s paper, letter writers talk about history and prejudice. I would remind these persons that the Japanese did not come to this country swearing allegiance to the U.S.A. and then perform mass murder on our streets. They became productive citizens of the United States. While many will argue that all Muslims are not bad, I would surely agree. Unfortunately, many of the terrorists are tied to mosques. And while that does not make Muslims or mosques guilty by association, it can give pause to many Americans. While history can propel us, it can also destroy us.
Forget not that we as Americans have equal rights under the law, and that includes free speech. If we see something that concerns us, we have every right, legally and morally, to voice our opinion. Even more, we are obligated to say something.
Remember, their was no warning at Pearl Harbor, so vigilance should be a word to live by.
