OLYMPIA — Officials say a woman struck by a vehicle in Olympia is not expected to survive.
The Olympian reports the woman described as elderly was taken to a Seattle hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The man arrested in the incident, 19-year-old Jared G. Dishon of Shelton, is being held on $75,000 bail for investigation of vehicular assault. Prosecutors say they’ll charge him with vehicular homicide if the woman dies.
Court documents say the other person struck, an elderly man, suffered a broken hip and ribs.
Police say they found two people lying unresponsive in the street Thursday evening. Police arrested Dishon at the scene.
Officers said Dishon told them he didn’t see the couple because he was “looking back” while he was turning left. He said once he struck them, he braked and then backed over them.
