LONGVIEW — A hydrogen peroxide manufacturer in Longview is starting a $22 million expansion.
The Daily News reported that crews broke ground on the Longview Solvay Chemicals project at the end of March. JH Kelley and DeWitt Construction is managing underground work and Solvay has not yet awarded a contract for above-ground construction. Construction is slated to end in October.
The $22 million project is the first phase of a larger effort to boost hydrogen peroxide production by 10 percent. In the first phase of expected to generate about 40 jobs at peak construction, with two permanent employees added as a result of the expansion.
Solvay officials say they are working to meet rising demand for hydrogen peroxide from the pulp and paper industry.
