This is the sixth part of an eight-part series examining each position in the NFL draft and what the Seattle Seahawks’ needs are at those positions. The players listed are the top prospects in the draft at their positions, with their college, height and weight provided:
INSIDE LINEBACKERS
1. Reggie Ragland, Alabama, 6-1, 247
2. Jaylon Smith, Notre Dame, 6-2, 223
3. Kentrell Brothers, Missouri, 6-0, 245
OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS
1. Myles Jack, UCLA, 6-1, 245
2. Darron Lee, Ohio State, 6-1, 232
3. Leonard Floyd, Georgia, 6-6, 244
4. Kamalei Correa, Boise State, 6-3, 243
5. Su’a Cravens, USC, 6-1, 226
Seahawks’ situation: One of the most prominent positions Seattle needs to fill is strong-side linebacker, with Bruce Irvin leaving via free agency. Irvin was a converted defensive end, and the Seahawks could attempt to go that route again, with word that Frank Clark and Cassius Marsh may receive a crack at claiming the position. However, it would not be a surprise if Seattle added a draft pick into the mix. Smith, who’s a first-round talent but will miss at least all of 2016 because of a devastating knee injury, would be an interesting risk for a team like Seattle that can afford to wait on a potential defensive star.
