GRESHAM, Ore. — Authorities say a convicted felon has been charged in federal court with unlawful possession of a firearm after 30 guns were stolen from a Gresham home. KOIN-TV reports John Jeffrey Sloan has criminal record that includes weapons convictions.
He is being held in the Multnomah County Detention Center.
According to court documents, Shelton was identified as the suspect in the burglary, after detectives were tipped off by a source.
Shelton is accused of showing the informant a number of photos that showed guns Shelton was trying to sell. Records show the photos were shown to the victim of the burglary who confirmed that the guns looked similar to the ones that were taken.
Shelton appeared in U.S. District Court earlier this week. He is being held in custody as a flight risk. His next court date is scheduled for May 25.
