The Seahawks entered the draft with just one quarterback on their roster, starter Russell Wilson. Now they’ve reportedly secured three for next weekend’s rookie minicamp.
Seattle added another quarterback to the mix Monday afternoon with the announcement the Seahawks have signed free agent Jake Heaps.
Heaps is a graduate of Skyline High School in Sammamish, where his senior year he was often cited as the top prep quarterback in the country. However, he had a nomadic collegiate career, playing at BYU, Kansas and Miami and failing to establish himself at any stop. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets last spring, but then released in August, and he was not picked up by any other team.
The other two quarterbacks expected to be at rookie minicamp are TCU’s Trevone Boykin and Oregon’s Vernon Adams. Seahawks general manager John Schneider confirmed Monday morning that Boykin signed as an undrafted free agent with Seattle. Adams reportedly has been invited to participate in the Seahawks’ minicamp.
Seattle’s rookie minicamp is Friday through Sunday at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.
