American Airlines dumps Zodiac, goes with B/E Aerospace

EVERETT — Zodiac Aerospace is out and B/E Aerospace is in supplying business seats for American Airlines’ 787-9s, the airline confirmed Tuesday. the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The airline previously said it would use B/E seats for premium economy class. It will use B/E’s Super Diamond Business Class Seat. B/E will also supply seats for all classes on American’s Airbus A350s, which are supposed to be delivered in 2017, the Star-Telegram reported.

B/E Aerospace has a new facility at Paine Field, though its seat production is out of state.

Zodiac has been struggling to overcome production problems for more than a year. Earlier this year, Airbus’s chief executive publicly criticized the global aerospace supplier for its slow progress.
