As I pay this huge check for the Herald, I am reminded how your costs go up, up, up and the benefits from taking your paper go down, down, down.
First, you take away some of my favorite comics.
Now you change the quality of my summer life by removing the baseball box scores. What major paper doesn’t have all the baseball box scores? How can I follow how my favorite Mets players are doing, who’s pitching, is David Wright healthy enough to play? You are truly a Mickey Mouse outfit. It’s an outrage to pay you exorbitant fees for less and less. I was so tempted not to renew. If the Seattle paper carried “Pickles,” I’d switch in a heartbeat and get my local news from the Arlington Times.
I’ve seen many letters to the editor complaining. I haven’t seen one in favor. Do you care at all what your readers want? Apparently not.
When I called the Herald and asked if you were going to bring the box scores back, the fellow at the sports desk answered a curt “nope.” When I asked why, I was given the ridiculous answer that you “don’t have the personnel.” How long does it take someone to look at the news services and put the box scores in your sports section! No, it’s a lack of concern for the wishes of your readers and cutting corners at the expense of your readership. We pay more and more and get less and less.
Bring back the box scores!
