Ballots are in the mail around Snohomish County for the May 24 presidential primary.
County elections officials mailed ballots Thursday to voters for delivery by Tuesday, May 10. Voters’ pamphlets were mailed by the Secretary of State’s Office two weeks ago.
Ballots went to voters registered as of April 25.
New Washington voters can register through May 16, but they must register in person at the Snohomish County auditor’s office in Everett.
Unlike other Washington elections, the presidential primary requires voters to check and sign a political party choice on the return envelope and vote only for a candidate in that party.
Washington state Republicans use primary results to determine how they will vote at their national presidential nominating convention this summer. Democrats will not use results of the primary.
Ballots returned through the mail must be postmarked no later than May 24. Voters also may return completed ballots postage free at 24-hour ballot drop boxes at any time until 8 p.m. that day.
The 24-hour ballot drop boxes are in the Bothell QFC parking lot, 22833 Bothell-Everett Highway, Bothell; near the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St, Edmonds; at the Snohomish County Courthouse Campus at the corner of Rockefeller Avenue and Wall Street in Everett; at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. S.E., Everett; in front of the Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave., Lynnwood; and at nine other sites around the county.
Voters also may drop completed ballots at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Tuesday, May 24 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The office is on the first floor of the Snohomish County Administration West Building, 3000 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett.
Accessible voting equipment is available in the auditor’s office through May 24 and at the Lynnwood Library Monday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, May 24, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Lynnwood Library is at 19200 44th Ave, Lynnwood.
