SCIO, Ore. — Authorities say a large cloud of bees was released into the air after a load of beehives tipped over in a vehicle crash in Linn County.
The Albany Democrat-Herald reports Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a flatbed truck carrying a load of beehives Friday morning.
Deputies say some of the truck’s wheels sheared at the lug nuts and separated from the vehicle, disabling it in the middle of the road.
Officials say one of the beehive loads tipped over while a forklift operator was moving it, sending bees into the air.
Authorities say no injuries were reported.
Workers with Olsen Honey Farms responded and were able to collect some of the bees and secure the hives.
