King’s High School basketball standout Corey Kispert has made a verbal commitment to play at Gonzaga, the Spokane Spokesman-Review reported.
Kispert, a 6-foot-6 junior wing, led the Knights to the Class 1A state title in March. He averaged 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game and was named The Herald’s 2016 Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
“There’s an unbelievable community surrounding Gonzaga, the guys are incredibly tight knit and there was a family atmosphere I hadn’t really seen anywhere else,” Kispert told the Spokesman Review. “Also, the coaching staff is absolutely fantastic and made it clear from the beginning I was their guy.”
Kispert won’t make his decision official until next fall, when he becomes eligible to sign an NCAA letter of intent.
