I have never been a member of any political party, having always voted for the candidate I consider to be most qualified for each office, regardless of party affiliation. Unfortunately, politics have become so corrupt that gerrymandering, exclusionary voting laws and requirements, as well as other blatantly unconstitutional and illegal activities are commonplace. Those who conspire to manipulate elections through lies, bribes and cheating can somehow justify in their minds that gutting our democratic process is acceptable. The ends do not justify the means. The exclusionary requirements are the topic today. The fact that, for some bizarre reason, we are now required to declare affiliation to a political party or be deprived of our right to vote is both unconstitutional and unconscionable. We must exercise our rights or they will wither away. We must demand equality and justice.
