Snohomish High School students raised $22,000 to pack high vitamin and mineral meals to fight hunger in Tanzania.
On May 5, more than 1,000 volunteers, mostly students, held a meal-packing party, assembling 75,816 meals.
Students also raised $5,000 to go to a local food bank, an effort organized by the school ASB.
The international effort was hosted by the Snohomish High School DECA club along with Snohomish-based company Dream Dinners, whose Living the Dream Foundation works with San Diego-based nonprofit Friends and Family Community Connection to organize international food donations.
The original target was to raise $10,000 for the meal-packing project and $3,000 for the food bank.
