Thursday at 5 p.m. is the deadline to volunteer to work on a voters’ pamphlet statement against a proposed City of Mountlake Terrace’s levy lid-lift, which will appear on the August primary ballot.
Snohomish County elections officials also are seeking volunteers for a voters’ pamphlet statement against a proposed county sales-and-use tax, which also will appear on the August ballot.
Anyone interested in writing either “con” statement can email his or her interest to elections@snoco.org.
Voters’ Committees are comprised of three people, one of whom is designated chair and serves as a contact point for the county auditor’s office. Committees may seek input from any number of other individuals or groups.
County Elections Manager Garth Fell said Monday that individuals interested in participating on a committee should have a clear interest for or against the ballot measure, be able to work cooperatively with other committee members, and have time available through May 27, adding that most committees communicate through email.
Each committee writes a 250-word statement for or against local ballot measures in the local voters’ pamphlet. Committees also prepare a 75-word rebuttal to the opposition’s statement. Statements are due May 24. Rebuttal statements are due May 27.
The county measure would impose a countywide sales-and-use tax to be used for criminal justice purposes
The Mountlake Terrace levy-lid lift is for funding interim city-hall rent and recreation and parks.
Information is available at the Snohomish County elections web site, www.snoco.org/elections or by calling 425-388-3321.
The Thursday 5 p.m. deadline is to be appointed to the committee. The statements are due Tuesday, May 24.
