MONROE — The 4A District 1 softball championship between Jackson and Snohomish was suspended with one out in the bottom of the first inning due to rain on Thursday.
Jackson scored first on a solo home run by sophomore Kristina Day to lead off the game. Snohomish answered back with an RBI double from junior Natalie Campbell in the bottom of the first.
Weather permitting, the game will resume at 4 p.m. on Friday with sophomore Bailey Greenlee on third base and Campbell on second.
A loser-out game between Monroe and Kamiak on the neighboring field was also suspended due to the rain. Monroe led 4-0 with one out in the bottom of the second inning when the game was halted. The Bearcats scored all of their runs in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Kacey Hvitved had a two-run home run, sophomore McKenzie Schulz had an RBI single and sophomore Hannah Akin, who was a courtesy runner for Schulz, scored on an error.
That game is also scheduled to resume at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The winner of the Monroe-Kamiak game will face the loser of the Jackson-Snohomish game at 11 a.m. on Saturday in a winner-to-state/loser out game. That game was originally scheduled to be played at 4 p.m. on Friday, but had to be pushed back a day because of Thursday’s rainout.
