Auxiliary celebration planned in Everett
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2100 Auxiliary celebrates its 85th year with a celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. June 5 at the Post, 2711 Oakes Ave., Everett.

Political town hall: Republican U.S. Senate candidate Chris Vance will hold a town hall at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Everett Elks Lodge, 2802 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Vance will speak briefly about his campaign against Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray then take questions. The event is free and open to the public.

Oil trains: Anyone interested in efforts to enhance the safety of transporting oil through the state can take part in two separate public hearings on Monday at Holiday Inn Downtown Everett, 3105 Pine St.
The Washington Department of Ecology will give information on different proposed oil transportation rules starting at 1 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Both hearings include time for public comments.
