People are invited to learn more about the heroin epidemic at a community forum Thursday hosted by the Snohomish Police Department. A panel of law enforcement officers will be joined by a former heroin addict and Dr. Caleb Banta-Green with the University of Washington’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute. The free forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school’s performing arts center, 1316 Fifth St. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Congressman Larsen’s staff in MLT: Rep. Rick Larsen’s staff is preparing to meet with constituents in Mountlake Terrace on Thursday to discuss issues they’re having with federal agencies. Larsen’s office can act as a liaison to help resolve problems with Social Security benefits, veterans disability claims, federal tax refunds, immigration matters and federal retirement benefits.
Staff plan to be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Public Library’s small meeting room, at 23300 58th Ave. W.

Fun for kids: The Lynnwood Police Department plans a “Cops &Kids” event from 10 a.m. to noon June 4 at the Terraces at Alderwood mall. Families will be able to check out police cars, talk to officers and listen to the Seattle Police Pipes and Drums Band. The police department says, “Bring the kids and get ready for tons of fun!”
