Following reports of a shooting incident, police were involved in a standoff at a Hoquiam home Tuesday morning.
Hoquiam police said the incident started just after 6 a.m. with a report of shots fired into a car in the area of 28th Street and Simpson Avenue. A man was seen carrying something into a home on the north side of Simpson. Police say a male suspect was believed to be in the home with a woman, possibly his mother. The home has a blue replica of the Statue of Liberty in the yard.
Traffic was blocked off in the area for several blocks and a police negotiator was on the way to the scene. Police from several agencies were involved.
Aberdeen’s Daily World reporter Jake Schild tweeted from the scene that negotiators were on the phone with the man, trying to end the situation. He said the man reportedly requested to be able to watch a movie first, according to police.
