SEATTLE — Emma Meesseman had 19 points and a career high-tying 13 rebounds to help the Washington Mystics snap a 10-game losing streak at Seattle with an 84-82 overtime victory over the Storm on Thursday night.
Washington had not won in Seattle since July 13, 2005.
Ivory Latta made an off-balance 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to extend Washington’s lead to 81-77 with 44 seconds to go in the extra period. Alysha Clark’s putback pulled Seattle to 81-79 but the Storm could not control the rebound after a Washington miss and Tayler Hill hit two free throws with 3.7 seconds remaining to give the Mystics a two-possession lead.
Hill finished with 18 points for Washington (2-3). Latta played 21 minutes in her season debut and scored 16 points to join the 3,000-point club.
Breanna Stewart had 25 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four blocks for Seattle (1-3).
Washington built a 14-point lead late in the third quarter before Seattle stormed back. Sue Bird split two defenders with a bounce pass and Jewell Loyd made an open layup with 7.8 seconds to go in regulation to tie it at 71-all. Meesseman missed a baseline floater at the buzzer.
