Popular dinner guest: Henry Heimlich, the 96-year-old surgeon who developed the Hemlich maneuver to aid victims of choking, used the technique for the first time in an actual emergency. He saved a woman at his senior living center. He’s demonstrated the technique many times but never in an emergency (Page Ax).
