TACOMA — A woman who was charged twice with child sex crimes in Pierce County and twice had those charges dismissed is dropping her federal lawsuit against the county and its prosecutors.
Defense attorney Fred Diamondstone says Lynn Dalsing is withdrawing the suit “due to the emotional costs of going forward.”
The News Tribune says the move is a victory for the county and Prosecutor Mark Lindquist, who praised the outcome Friday. It ends four years of bitter litigation.
Prosecutors first charged Dalsing in 2010 with sex crimes, based a wrongly identified photo. Those charges were dismissed in 2011. Dalsing later sued the county for false arrest.
Prosecutors filed new criminal charges against her but a Pierce County judge dismissed them in 2015, citing “prosecutorial vindictiveness.”
The case fueled a recall petition and whistleblower complaints against Lindquist and his staff, as well as a state bar complaint against Lindquist and other prosecutors that is still under investigation.
