INDEX — A 28-year-old Marysville died Saturday when his car left U.S. 2, struck a tree and rolled over.
At about 4:10 p.m., the man was driving in a 1996 Dodge Caravan eastbound toward Stevens Pass.
He was eight miles east of Index, near the town of Baring, when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and rolled onto its roof.
The man died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.
The eastbound lane of the highway was blocked just outside Baring for about four hours.
