Sid Schwab’s May 25 column, “Donald Trump for president? Are you serious?” pointed out the difficulty of finding common ground when we don’t have a shared reality.
We live in silos, and I’m sure I could find examples where the Left is at fault, but the Right is so much better at distortions. Even before Obama took office, Newt Gingrich convened a group to block Obama and make him a one-term president. The Right has opposed almost every measure that would have spurred job growth and made government work, and has been able to blame the dysfunction on Obama. And though in retrospect, Hillary made some poor choices, the Right has had more than 20 years and has spent many millions of dollars to attack her character.
