VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police say a bank robbery suspect in Vancouver was injured by gunfire after a deputy and the man fired their weapons.
Vancouver police said officers responded to a robbery call at a US Bank branch on Main Street Monday afternoon.
Police say a man robbed the bank of cash and then fled. Authorities traced the man’s vehicle through a device in the money. Police say about 15 minutes later, a Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputy put out a stop stick to halt the vehicle and also fired his gun.
The Columbian reported that police told them the suspect also fired a gun. It’s unclear if the man was hit by the officer or if his injury was self-inflicted. He was taken to an area hospital and his condition is unknown, police said.
A regional major crimes team is investigating.
