NEW YORK — Seattle Storm guard Sue Bird and former Storm center Lauren Jackson were among the 20 women named the greatest and most influential players in WNBA history.
The list, selected by a 15-member panel, was announced Tuesday.
Active players on the list include Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen of Minnesota, Indiana’s Tamika Catchings, Phoenix’s Diana Taurasi, Chicago’s Cappie Pondexter, L.A.’s Candance Parker, New York’s Swin Cash and Bird.
Retired players on the list include Cynthia Cooper, Yolanda Griffith, Becky Hammon, Lisa Leslie, Deanna Nolan, Ticha Penicheiro, Katie Smith, Sheryl Swoopes, Tina Thompson, Teresa Weatherspoon and Jackson.
Nolan was the only one of the former players not to be selected five years ago among the 15 greatest. Dawn Staley was on that list but didn’t make Tuesday’s group.
