Regarding Eugene Robinson’s June 5 column praising the Obama administration, “Realizing what we had after Obama leaves”: There are those who will never forgive our president for the time, resources and lives expended on the recovery of the deserter, Bowe Bergdahl. This low-life chose his side of the fence and should be required to stay on it. Susan Rice proclaimed he served the United States with “honor and distinction”?
The U.S. military is not excessively strict on those who become prisoners. They would rather their combatants live to fight another day. Bergdahl was not engaged in combat. He voluntarily deserted his comrades and went over to the other side to check out their hospitality.
The term “leave no man behind” applies only to those who performed honorably.
Obama should have been impeached and indicted for providing aid and comfort to the enemy. Once this jerk crossed over to the enemy, he became the enemy. By trading five terrorists for a traitor only compounds the travesty.
