Concerning the June 18 letter about the loss of a dog, “Loving memories of a loyal friend,” by Bill and Rita Gallagher: I cried as I am very much a “critter” person. Far too many humans are not humane. I judge people by the way they treat their animals. I’m 76, and I can name every animal since I was three years old. Hundreds I have saved, doing without because they weren’t spayed or neutered. I’ve fed them, found homes. Far too many let their animals run — too many drop them off, or worse, into the nearest river.
Blessings to Willie the dog and his family.
There is a special place for the dog, and yes, he will be waiting. My animals that have gone are waiting for me. From cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, birds, horses — I miss them all. What kind of person are you? I’ve known a multitude of unconditional love.
