Marine Cpl. Jeffrey B. Starr, 22, of Snohomish died May 30, 2005, in combat operations in Ramadi. He was assigned to the Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif. The Snohomish High School graduate had enlisted in the Marines in March 2001 and was just three weeks away from finishing his third tour in Iraq. A portion of his final letter to his fiance was quoted by President Bush in a speech about the war and his family later met with the president. Bush mentions local Marine's last letter home 12/1/05
