Dustin L. Canham
U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Dustin L. Canham, 21, died March 23, 2008, from what the Defense Department called “a non-hostile incident” while serving in the east African nation of Djibouti with a reserve unit based in Portland, Ore.
The circumstances of what happened were not announced. The Marine Corps said the incident is under investigation.
Canham was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve’s 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Marine Logistic Group.
His brother, Mitchell Canham, starred for the Lake Stevens baseball team and went on to help Oregon State University to the College World Series three times.
In addition to his brother, Dustin Canham is survived by a wife, a father and other family.
