11. Jim Ennis, Everett/Cascade football and basketball

Sport: Basketball/football

Local connection: Everett High and Cascade, coach

Best known as: Longtime football coach

Era: 1939 through 1970s

Coaching bio

Late in his life, Ennis was known as the father of legendary football coach Terry Ennis. But he had quite a career of his own, and not just on the sidelines of football games. His only official state title actually came as a basketball coach, when he led Everett High to the 1940 championship. But Ennis also coached an Everett football team that earned a No. 1 state ranking after the 1952 season. The Herald's 1952 Man of the Year in Sports and a charter member of the State Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Ennis went on to become one the most successful and influential prep football coaches of his era.
