Coaching bio

The University of Washington has dominated the world of crew for most of the past three decades, and for that the Huskies can thank Dick Erickson. The longtime crew coach turned his alma mater into a perennial powerhouse during a 20-year coaching career that ended in 1987. Erickson led the Husky men's crew team to 15 Pacific Coast Rowing Championship varsity titles, and his 1984 team won the national collegiate championship. He also helped start the women's program in the mid-1970s, paving the way for another crew dynasty at Montlake. In 1994, seven years before his death, Erickson was enshrined in the Husky Hall of Fame.
