Boeing Frederickson factory to make 777X tail

SEATTLE — The Boeing factory at Frederickson near Tacoma that builds tails for 777s and 787s also will build the carbon-fiber tail for the new 777X.

Site manager Dave Moe confirmed the work Thursday.

The director of the governor’s aerospace office, Alex Pietsch, told The Seattle Times it was excellent news.

About 750 employees work at the Composite Manufacture Center.

Boeing is erecting a new building in Everett where a new composite wing for the 777X will be made. Boeing committed to assembling the 777X in Everett in January after winning concessions from the Machinists union.
