Comcast, Verizon launch joint marketing effort

EVERETT — Comcast and Verizon Wireless have joined forces in marketing their products, first in metro Seattle and Portland, the two companies said Tuesday.

That includes spots in south Snohomish County.

“This is the first region in the country to launch this,” said Steve Kipp, spokesman for Comcast.

Consumers can sign up for Verizon wireless products through Comcast, or add Comcast’s home Internet, television or telephone service through Verizon. The new joint service is being rolled out initially only in Seattle and Portland.

“By adding wireless services to our Xfinity offerings, we’re able to provide consumers with a great in-home experience, combined with the superior reliability of Verizon Wireless’ network,” said Steve White, president of Comcast’s West Division.

Comcast representatives will staff eight Verizon Wireless stores in the Seattle area, including the one at 1405 SE Everett Mall Way in Everett and at 16822 Twin Lakes Ave. in Marysville.

New customers who sign up for a qualifying Xfinity offering and a Verizon Wireless smartphone or tablet plan will be eligible to receive a Visa prepaid card valued up to $300.

Comcast and Verizon Wireless first announced in December their intent to offer each other’s products and services to consumers. The companies expect to further enhance and evolve the program based on customer feedback.
