Update: Air India’s P.R. nightmare

By Chuck Taylor

Quoting numerous critics, a New York Times blog is calling out Air India for refusing to take delivery of Boeing 787s until late-delivery compensation is settled. The India Ink blog notes that the reported $1 billion discount demand by Air India for 27 Dreamliners amounts to $37 million per plane.

If, in fact, Boeing were to pay the sort of compensation Air India is asking for all the Dreamliner planes that are delayed worldwide, it would pay out some $32 billion, Motley Fool calculated.
