All Mariners Blog comments ->> A flawed roster is set ... for now
re: flawed roster
I completely agree with this. The Ms roster is good, but flawed. Our 4 man bench worries me a bit, but I love the utility men like Bloomquist and Cairo. It will prove to be invaluable to have those two guys who can give our starters at nearly every position a rest. As for Morse and Jimerson, they seem like wasted space on the bench. Personally, I think Mike Morse should perhaps see a starting spot in RF after the spring he had, although he is a terrible fielder for sure. Brad Wilkerson just doesn't do it for me, and I think Morse could put up comparable, if not superior numbers and bring some youth to the lineup. As for our bullpen, I feel like it is solid right now. I really like JJ and Eric O'flaherty, Lowe could turn out to be huge but is a question mark. I too would prefer to see Dickey in the long relief role, as I'm not sold on Baek. The return of Morrow will also be huge for this team and help bridge the gap to Putz. In any event, perfect roster or not, go Ms!
