From PAWS of Lynnwood

Breeding season is in full swing for the birds on the PAWS campus in Lynnwood. See a baby hummingbird grow from nestling to fledgling — along with other happenings with the birds at PAWS — in this series of photos by Kevin Mack of the wildlife center.

Over the course of the next few months, there is a high likelihood you will encounter fledgling birds. Often they will be as big as their parents, but they will be naive, and possibly not yet fully capable of flying. It can be hard to distinguish between these awkward but perfect healthy youngsters and the birds that might be sick or injured.

The PAWS website has an easy-to-follow flow chart that will help you decide what to do if you encounter a baby bird.
